- Traditional Fire Safety Certificate Applications
- We have the expertise and experience within the company to produce the drawings and documents required by local authorities in order to ensure a positive result first time every time.
- Fire Engineering
- Some large and complex buildings lend themselves to a fire engineering solution instead of the more traditional code compliant approach.
- This approach is generally accepted by most Irish local authorities. Approved Document B 2000 suggests, “Fire safety engineering can provide an alternative approach to fire safety. It may be the only practical way to achieve a satisfactory standard of fire safety in some large and complex buildings, and in buildings containing different uses”.
- Preliminary Design Consulting for Architects
- Much of D. M. Flaherty & Associates’ consulting work involves working with architects during preliminary design and pre-planning stages. This ensures that the basic design of the building will not present any major problems with compliance at a later stage.
- We provide a unique service for architects wherein using preliminary pre-planning drawings, we deliver quick analyses or solutions by phone, fax or written report.
- Building Control and Negotiations
- D. M. Flaherty & Associates are able to offer advice or assistance with compliance on all the Irish building regulations and related codes of practice. Some local authorities require that fire safety certificate applications show how compliance is achieved, with TGDM for example. We are in a strong position to negotiate with local authorities in this regard because of our strong knowledge base.
- Fire Safety Inspections and Audits for Existing Buildings
- D. M. Flaherty & Associates carry out independent surveys of existing buildings and audit the fire safety of the building. We report on general compliance with regulations, and the general condition of fire safety features within the building such as fire doors, compartment walls, safety signs, fire fighting equipment, fire alarm systems and lighting.
